This November you get the final say as to whether the 1-2-3 caps are cemented into our Indiana State Constitution. Initially I advocated for a complete elimination of our property tax system in favor of the FAIR tax, but once Governor Daniels and other legislative leaders crafted the 1-2-3 plan, I became a supporter.
Homeownership will now be more secure as your property tax bill will not go higher than 1% of your home’s assessed value. We continue to closely monitor assessments through the Department of Local Government Finance so that gamesmanship cannot jeopardize the goal of more stable property tax bills.
