This November you get the final say as to whether the 1-2-3 caps are cemented into our Indiana State Constitution. Initially I advocated for a complete elimination of our property tax system in favor of the FAIR tax, but once Governor Daniels and other legislative leaders crafted the 1-2-3 plan, I became a supporter.

Homeownership will now be more secure as your property tax bill will not go higher than 1% of your home’s assessed value. We continue to closely monitor assessments through the Department of Local Government Finance so that gamesmanship cannot jeopardize the goal of more stable property tax bills. Attached is the most recent data we have on both Marion (PDF) and Hamilton (PDF) counties.
